When planning a home security system, it's better to choose a system that can work offline and doesn't rely on Wi-Fi.

In my case, I set up home surveillance with Ubiquty devices, which have no subscription fees, can work 100% offline, and are connected via an ethernet cable instead of Wi-Fi.
So yesterday, when my friend visited me and asked, "Did you have an issue with your Ring doorbell?" I didn't know what he was talking about because my doorbell is not Ring and doesn't require an internet connection to work correctly.

You can check Ubiquiti security products here 👉 Ubiquiti cameras and NVRs

This type of conversation usually brings up the other important aspect of home security/surveillance, which is the price of the setup.
Yes, the offline option usually costs more in a one-time purchase, while with a subscription service, you pay less upfront but (probably) more over the long term.
However, as with recent issues with Ring show, it's better to save a bit more money for a more reliable setup and be confident it will work as expected.

I welcome you to discuss this topic with me in the LinkedIn comments.

Related news:
The AWS outage took down my Ring cam, and everyone else's too
Ring Doorbell Outage Today: Why the App Isn't Working & Its Status
Amazon's Ring outage: what happened, will it happen again, and can you still trust Ring cameras?

featured","security","networking","hardware","AWS","Ubiquiti
/website_3fb70d22/user/pages/02.blog/13.the-aws-outage-killed-ring-my-cameras-kept-rolling/The AWS Outage Killed Ring My Cameras Kept Rolling copy.jpg

This "guide" is just a way for me to express my thoughts regarding layoffs.
I hope that people will find it helpful and maybe share their experiences by contributing to the repo.

Give yourself some time
This news, in most cases, is not expected. LinkedIn, a primary platform for professional networking, should perform this process seamlessly. Unfortunately, I've encountered a recurring issue on various company LinkedIn accounts that hampers this experience. While this problem is significant, the real frustration was in the user experience when attempting to report the bug to LinkedIn support.

Issue

When navigating to the "People" section on a company's LinkedIn page, the "How you are connected" card indicates that I have one second-party connection within the company.
However, clicking on this card results in LinkedIn displaying "0 associated members" instead of the expected connection.
This issue also appears with first-party connections, undermining the platform's utility in leveraging professional networks.

Bug reporting user experience

For me, as a Software Quality Assurance specialist, having an issue with a web service is an expected part of using any web service; nothing is perfect. But in this case, what could have been a bug report that took two minutes to submit turned into a chat with support that took around half an hour. I tried to find a bug report form but stumbled upon support chat, and that's where weird stuff began.
The customer support experience was less than helpful, with responses that seemed more like automated scripts than personalized assistance. 😳

Sam: Hello! Companies with clear, easily accessible bug report forms demonstrate a commitment to their users, earning extra karma points in my eyes.
